Gav Hurford

Gav Hurford is an accomplished leader with 32 years of experience in the System Operator environment. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town.

He joined Eskom System Operator in January 1994, as an Engineer-in-Training and progressed through various Power System Engineering roles. In August 2009, he was appointed Corporate Specialist and later contributed to projects across the Transmission and Generation Divisions. Gav previously acted as General Manager: System Operator for 13 months in 2015/16. Since September 2016, he has served as the Senior Manager for the National Control team, where he oversees the real-time operation of the Grid.
